Metal compositions that stand the test of time.

My Story

Greetings, fellow musicians, artists, creative minds, and connoisseurs of all things excellent and Majestic, my name is Jess Morgan S. My musical beginnings are somewhat humble, when I first picked up the guitar at age of 10, I was not fully sure what kind of music I wanted to make. I only knew that I wanted to create something exciting. Now that is a rather unclear and directionless objective, but over the years that desire grew into something much more definite. Eventually, I began to practice the music of modern rock bands, such as: Green Day, Linkin Park and Skillet. And through these kinds of bands, I first began to understand the kind of sonic power that could be wielded through the guitar. As I expanded my musical influences and cultivated my technical prowess I began to see the value in learning from a large variety of genres. I even began looking outside of rock and metal to learn from the musical talent of 70s jazz, fusion bands, orchestral composers of the romantic era and even folk and singer songwriters such as Johnny Cash and Bruce Cockburn.

However, there are three key sub-genres of metal that came to be foundational to my own musical expression. The first would be Thrash Metal. bands, such as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Death, Angel, Testament, Overkill and even more modern thrash acts such as Evile and Warbringer have played a central role in defining how I think about song composition and riff writing.

The second would be Melodic Death Metal. Bands, such as Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Shaded Enmity, Scar Symmetry and Inferi showed me the musical power of blending together beautiful melodies, and dark brutality together.

But the third and most important ingredient for my expression of music is progressive metal. Bands like Dream Theater, Nevermore, Symphony, X, Opeth, Theocracy, Mastodon, Between The Buried And Me, Ne Obliviscaris and many others transformed but I thought was sonically possible. Much more could be sad about my musical journey, but for the sake of brevity, I shall have to end it here.

Glass to Slay

Check out the Music from my Glass To Slay days!!!

Glass to Slay was my first band that i formed with Bassist/vocalist Jeff Choleva straight out of high school. was still studying music in college at the time and we were constantly cycling through drummers look for someone who fit the bill. during this time we wrote several songs and performed at several local venues. we even recorded our fist single! it would be a slow process but after several years of searching we finally found our drummer in Ivan Saldinara. Together as a trio we performed at multiple local venues and recorded three more singles.

Even though I am no longer a part of Glass to Slay those were formative times for me as a musician and I am grateful for what I have learned from them as well as for the memories.
